Deck Power Washing & Staining

Deck Power Washing & Staining

A deck that's gone gray and splintery usually doesn't need to be torn out — it needs to be cleaned and re-coated. We power wash off years of dirt, mildew, and dead surface wood, let it dry, then seal or stain it in the tone you want. It's one of the best-value updates you can make to a backyard: the same deck you already have, restored and protected, in a couple of days instead of a full rebuild. Fresh stain doesn't just look better — it seals the wood against the weather that was breaking it down.

What's Included

Handled end to end by one team

Deep power wash

We wash off dirt, mildew, algae, and the dead gray surface layer down to clean, sound wood.

Sanding & prep

Rough spots and splinters are sanded down, and popped nails or screws are reset before we coat.

Minor board repairs

We replace a cracked or rotted board here and there so the finish goes on over a solid surface.

Stain or seal, your choice

Choose a clear seal, a semi-transparent stain, or a solid color — tested on your boards first.

Railings, stairs & trim

We coat the whole deck — floor, railings, spindles, and stairs — not just the easy flat parts.

Weather protection

The right sealer locks out moisture and UV, which is what keeps the wood from graying again.

Restore the deck you already have.

The gray, worn look of an old deck is mostly surface: dirt, mildew, and a thin layer of sun-damaged wood sitting on top of boards that are still solid underneath. Wash that away, let the wood dry fully, and a fresh coat of stain brings the color and grain right back — while sealing the surface against the moisture and UV that caused the damage in the first place. The result comes down to prep and timing: a clean surface and dry wood are what make a finish last instead of peeling in a season.

Questions, answered

Can my deck be saved, or does it need to be replaced?
Most decks that look bad just need cleaning and re-coating. As long as the boards and framing are structurally sound — not soft, rotted, or badly cracked — washing and staining will restore them. We'll walk the deck during the free estimate and tell you honestly whether a refresh will do it or whether specific boards (or the whole structure) actually need replacing.
Should I get a clear seal, a stain, or a solid color?
It depends on the condition and look you want. A clear or semi-transparent stain shows off the wood grain and is great on decks in decent shape. A solid-color stain covers more, hides age and mismatched boards, and lasts longer, but it looks more like paint. We test options on your actual deck so you can see the real result before choosing.
How long does it take?
Most residential decks are a two-visit job: we power wash on day one, let the wood dry for a day or two (dry wood is critical for the finish to hold), then come back to sand, prep, and coat. We schedule around the weather since the boards need to be dry going in and stay dry while the finish cures.
How long will the finish last?
It depends on the product and how exposed the deck is to sun and rain, but a properly applied stain or seal typically lasts a few years before it needs a refresh coat. Solid-color finishes generally last longer than clear seals. A quick re-coat every few years is far cheaper than letting it go gray and splintered again.
Is the work warrantied?
Our prep and application workmanship is covered by our 1-year workmanship warranty, so if something about how we washed, sanded, or coated the deck isn't right, we make it right. The finish itself is exposed to weather and foot traffic every day, so normal wear, fading, and the coating's own lifespan aren't covered — those come down to the product and the elements. Full terms are in your signed agreement.
