Popcorn Ceiling Removal
Popcorn ceilings date a home instantly — they collect dust, yellow with age, and make ceilings feel lower. Removing that texture and finishing the ceiling smooth and flat is one of the highest-impact updates you can make room to room. The work is messy if it's done wrong; done our way, the room is fully masked, the dust is controlled, and you're left with a clean, modern ceiling that makes everything below it look newer.

What's Included
Handled end to end by one team
Popcorn texture scraping
Old acoustic ceiling texture soaked and scraped down to the drywall so we can start from a clean surface.
Skim-coat & smoothing
Ceilings skim-coated, sanded, and feathered flat so there are no ridges, gouges, or scraper marks left behind.
Seam & crack repair
Loose tape, hairline cracks, and old patches addressed while the ceiling is open so the finish stays smooth.
Primer & fresh paint
Smoothed ceilings primed and finished in a clean flat ceiling white for an even, modern look.
Full room masking
Floors, walls, trim, and fixtures sealed off with plastic and paper, with dust control throughout the job.
Cleanup & haul-away
All debris, sheeting, and dust removed at the end so you walk back into a clean, finished room.

The difference is in the containment.
Scraping a popcorn ceiling is the easy part — controlling the mess and finishing the ceiling truly smooth is the craft. We fully seal the room before a single scrape, wet the texture to keep dust down, and then skim, sand, and feather the whole ceiling until it's flat under raking light. The result reads like new construction, not a patched-over repair.
- Room fully masked and sealed before any scraping

Before & After
From dated texture to smooth and modern
Removing popcorn texture and finishing the ceiling flat makes ceilings feel higher, rooms feel brighter, and the whole home feel current — without touching the layout.
Before
AfterQuestions, answered
- Is popcorn ceiling removal messy?
- It can be if it's not contained — that's exactly what we plan for. We seal off floors, walls, trim, and fixtures with plastic and paper, wet the texture down to keep dust from going airborne, and clean everything up at the end. Done right, the mess stays inside the masked area and you walk back into a clean room.
- Could my popcorn ceiling contain asbestos?
- Popcorn ceilings installed before the 1980s can contain asbestos, and it should never be scraped dry or disturbed until it's tested. If your home is from that era, we recommend testing first, and if asbestos is present, abatement must be handled by a licensed asbestos professional before any of our work begins. We'll walk you through the safe path.
- Do you just scrape it, or do you finish the ceiling smooth?
- We finish it. Scraping alone leaves a rough, uneven surface with gouges and old patch lines. We skim-coat, sand, and feather the entire ceiling flat, then prime and paint so it reads as a true smooth ceiling — not a scraped one.
- How long does it take?
- A single room is often a few days including scraping, skim-coating, dry time between coats, sanding, and paint. Multiple rooms or a whole floor take longer. We give you a realistic schedule up front and keep the work contained room by room.
- Is the finished ceiling covered by your warranty?
- The smoothing and drywall work we perform is backed by our 1-year workmanship warranty on installations. Like all painted surfaces, the ceiling paint finish itself isn't warrantied against normal wear or accidental damage, and materials carry their own manufacturer warranties.
